The floating deck at Juma Amazon Lodge is located on the hotel’s front. It has a sunbathing area perfect for sipping a cocktail or just admiring the lush greenery around you. The natural pool is about 24-feet long, 16-feet wide, and roughly 8-feet-deep. A steel screen surrounds the swimming area which allows river water to pass through, but the mesh doesn’t allow fish through and is strong enough to keep out the caymans, too.
Every day of your stay will be filled with Amazon exploration. You can canoe through the forest thanks to the risen waters of the Juma and observe birds, trees, and other animal and plant life in its natural surroundings. Other activities include visiting local communities to learn about the indigenous cultures, as well as visiting one of the oldest and tallest trees in the region – it’s over 120 feet high and more than a hundred years old.
Juma Amazon Lodge is an award-winning ecological lodge praised for its sustainability. Solar energy is used for warming water and powering lights, but the lodge is also diligent about proper garbage and sewage disposal. There is a sewage treatment plant onsite, and all garbage is recycled once it’s been separated.
